Everyone Deserves A Smile

Thank you to all our clients who donated goods for the EDAS project this year. When we dropped off the items yesterday (plus more than 600 books from Courtenay Rotary) the team were sorting out all the donations, ready to be bagged up and distributed to homeless in the Valley, elsewhere on the Island and, new this year, East side in Vancouver. Interesting facts: water and your home

Richard and I attended a very informative and useful presentation last night at the BCAA offices on Cliffe Avenue,  Courtenay. One of the most interesting facts was that most water damage claims are excluded from coverage unless you pay an additional premium. And note, the largest percentage of insurance claims relate to water damage rather than fire, theft etc!   In addition, it is part of the homeowners responsibility, under the insurance agreement, to take all necessary steps to ensure that freezing is not a risk when a home is left empty. We are delighted to be involved with the EDAS project (Everyone Deserves A Smile) organised by the Puntledge Ecole elementary school in Courtenay. Students and helpers are putting together over 400 gifts bags for the homeless of the Comox Valley. A huge thank you to our clients and friends who have so generously donated new and used hats, scarves, gloves and socks, plus monetary donations which will be used to purchase more items.
